Sometimes you would swear that the film was without music. Even if it’s not. But it’s done so subtle, you don’t notice it. It’s not so obvious. This is the kind of music I am mostly interested in composing.

The online documentary The Distortion of Sound is presented by Harman, an American audio and infotainment equipment company. Some of the artists which appear in it are very fine artists like: Slash, Quincy Jones, Mike Shinoda, Snoop Dogg, Hans Zimmer. Must this documentary be taken as a large advertisement or as an objective documentary?
Let’s say we are asked to compose music for a film. A story must be told. We know that adding the wrong music will harm the film, will harm the story. So what should we do?
A couple of days ago I added the brand new Selig Gain RE to my Reason rack and I’m very happy since. It adds very precise gain and pan controls + some nifty CV additions to the Reason rack. Let’s have a closer look…
One of my favourite insert effects is The Echo effect which is included in Reason. Its color section will add some super nice sounding Limiting, Overdrive, Distortion or Tube sounds + mighty fine additional filtering.
