Craig Anderton on self-promotion

“Even in the days when musicians had record labels or publishers behind them, no one cared more about an artist’s music than the artist — and the more promotion and marketing the artist did, the better.”

The music world is changing faster than ever before. But some things will never change. As Craig Anderton writes today:

Even in the days when musicians had record labels or publishers behind them, no one cared more about an artist’s music than the artist — and the more promotion and marketing the artist did, the better.

Write that on your wall or get a tattoo. Nobody cares more about your artistic work than you do. If not, you’re doing something wrong. Care for it.
