Today I have added a new product to the Melodiefabriek shop: IR-03, a package of 9 different sounding Impulse Responses which were captured using my trusty old Palmer PDI-03 Speaker Simulator (*).
I bought my Palmer Speaker Simulator PDI-03 in the early 90s. It was a total game changer for me. The dynamic sound it gave me in combination with my Koch, Marshall and Vox tube amps was simply astonishing. With the Palmer I was able to get great tones without the need to use a loud amp in the studio. Since then I also started to used the device for live gigs. It made the engineers very happy since the signal was super reliable and punchy.
It’s thé classic speaker simulator still sounding classy:
The impulse responses were captured from these 9 combinations and saved as 24 bit wav files in 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz formats, making 36 files in total.
It’s now available in the shop as a ‘pay what you want’ product. details

Good articles re digital/sims etc, thank you. I have been looking at various cab sims, and the “usual suspects” have lowered the field of entry $$ with ir hardware loaders. Almost time to do a comparative review with the Palmer as a gold standard? not that I believe in “gold standards”. 😉
I am almost exclusively on IOS these last few years, and some new ios apps for amp sims and IR loaders, at least the current ones, sound good to me too.
hope you stay well my old friend. We are muddling through..all gigs way into the Fall are cancelled, as well as 3 albums that I was going to record old school, with trips to Portland and LA …what a concept!!…be in the same room as the other musicians. Could catch on!
So you’re using an interface with iOS and an IR loader? I have no experience with that I must say, only on the Mac.
Hope you stay well as well John. And hopefully the recording sessions can happen in the near future. I sometimes do online sessions for guitar. Not the same thing as grooving together, but it’s okay.
