Propellerhead has released Reason Compact and Reason 10.4, offering new ways to make music.

When listening to my favourite tracks I notice that they all sound very different from each other. Some are sharp sounding, some sound compressed, some sound very aggressive, some sound very smooth. They are obviously not mixed and mastered by the same people, using the same equipment and the same set of ears.
The guys and girls of Propellerhead worked hard to solve the performance issues of Reason. Although the focus was on VST performance Reason 10.3 in general now runs better and smoother than ever.
A few mouse clicks and everything is gone. Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. Next up is Whatsapp. Been there, done that. Facebook is evil. Here on my own domain is where I live.
I decided to test the random LFO modes of Propellerhead Reason devices. Random LFO offers a great way to add analog irregularities to a signal, modulating a synth parameter randomly or applying it to an effect.
The free TubeDriver, a tube amplifier emulation plug-in created by Nick Crow is my favourite for some time now. It even beats expensive well known plug-ins.
Europa by Reason is a waveshaper synth, it can change the shape of the wave/oscillator. And by changing the waveshape you’re actually changing the harmonics. Europa is not only a great sounding synth it is also a great analytics tool for learning about harmonics, shaping a waveform.
Back in the day, I was asked by Propellerhead to design patches for Reason. The Props needed many patches for the Factory Sound Bank and one of the most important type of sounds the Props wanted us sound designers to program was what we call Bread & Butter sounds.
I have been so impressed by the sonic possibilities of the Europa synth by Reason so I decided to make a package for it containing 132 80s tribute sounds. Many of them will bring back memories of the classic synths like the Mono/Poly or the Prophet 5.
There’s a lot written about the diminished chord and its uses but a lot of it is bullshit in my opinion. So let’s set the record straight.
